Christmas Greetings from the President of the CAPP Foundation, Professor Paulo Garonna

Updated: 3 days ago

DurIng the holy Christmas season and at the start of the New Year, I wish to convey to all of you, members and friends of the Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation, and to your families, warm and sincere wishes for peace and hope for this holiday period and for 2026.

The celebration of Christ’s birth powerfully recalls our shared responsibility to promote the dignity of every human person and to build relationships among peoples founded on justice, dialogue, and cooperation. As Saint John XXIII reminds us in the Encyclical Pacem in Terris, authentic peace is grounded in mutual trust among nations. In the Encyclical Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis recalled that peace appears as a journey that requires commitment, patience, and sincere openness to others. Peace is built through constant dialogue and concrete solidarity, especially toward the weakest and most vulnerable. Pope Leo XIV has dedicated the Message for the 59th World Day of Peace, which will  be celebrated on 1 January 2026, to the theme: «Peace be with you all: toward a “disarmed and disarming peace”».

In an international context marked by increasing tensions and uncertainties, Christmas renews the invitation not to yield to resignation, but to safeguard hope and to work together so that peace may become a shared project, capable of being expressed in concrete acts of reconciliation and cooperation.

With these sentiments, I wholeheartedly renew my wishes for a Holy Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, dialogue, and renewed commitment in the service of humanity.
